Dan Channing Stanley
In 1997 Dan received his Bachelor Degree the University of
Tennessee in Business Administration; and in 2000 he received his
Doctorate in Jurisprudence from the University of Tennessee, College
of Law.
While enrolled at the UT College of Law, Dan
participated in the UT Legal Clinic, representing indigent
individuals in both civil and criminal matters, and became a
certified General Sessions Mediator. Furthermore, as a member of
the American Trial Lawyers Association Trial Team, Dan participated
in mock trials throughout the region.
After law school Dan began working with the Law
Offices of J.D. Lee. Within one month of practicing law, Dan
received an $850,000.00 verdict in Knox County Circuit Court as a
second chair to another member of the firm.
A few months later, Dan tried his first jury trial
alone in a case of disputed liability in Sevier County, Tennessee.
Though the medical bills were less than $7,000, the jury returned a
six-figure verdict for the plaintiffs and the case was subsequently
settled.
While still in his first year as a practicing
attorney, Dan tried his second case in Anderson County, Tennessee.
Though the defense disputed liability, the jury returned a verdict
of $400,000, holding the defendant 60% liable for the total amount.
Since such time Dan has maintained a consistent and
steady pace of verdicts and settlements for his clients. Because he
maintains a small case load, he is able to focus on larger personal
injury cases, including areas of medical malpractice, toxic-tort
litigation, civil rights and commercial vehicle litigation. Aside
from his civil practice, Dan enjoys criminal defense work and
maintains an active caseload of select cases.
Dan grew up in South Knoxville as the son to John
Paul Stanley and Dinah Lynn Stanley, both from Rhea County,
Tennessee. Dan is a member of Cornerstone Church and resides in
downtown Knoxville. His is very close to his three brothers, who
all reside in Knoxville with their families. He is grateful to his
friend and mentor, J.D. Lee.
